Printing on a DVD

I have a Epson R200 that still works well but the print CD/DVD function no longer works.......I think one of the springs that accepts the tray has broken!

I used to print alot of DVD's but now use a hard drive for keeping my videos. However I am doing a wedding DVD for a couple of friends and would like it to look as good as possible. Without having to spend money on new printer does anyone know how I get one DVD printed. I can sort out the printing of the case but not the DVD!

You can get paper you can print on to stick on cd's I sue to do it years ago you just insert into where paper goes and print

    example

Probably get cheaper though you can also get a tool where you insert the paper and stamp cd on

Bad idea. You never get it really centered. A fraction of a millimeter out of line is enough to unbalance the disc and with speeds of ~10000rpm these days it can destroy your CD-ROM drive.

It may not look too good but I use a permanent marker only.

Find someone you know to do it for you.
If not poss. if you are prepared to e-mail the image I can send you a printed dvd-r disc - my ip5300 is still working fine even after 3 years of refilling original carts! PM me if interested or post comment in open forum.

IIRC the Epson R200/R220 R660 etc all have a problem with the CD tray wearing/flexing so that the intake rollers on the Printer no longer grip very well. with my R660 (and 220 before that), I found the answer was to carefully put something under the flap that the CD tray pushes into, so it supports the tray a bit better.

No its not I have done this many years ago, granted printing to dvd printable is better but the op asked for another way to print and I gave him/her that choice

There is only several possible solutions

    1. Use marker pen
    2. Get some one else to do it
    3. Use lightscribe (you need the discs and or writer
    4. Use printable labels and it can be done It dosnt go over centre if you do it right and or use the special cd tool you can get

I still have discs done 10 years ago that work btw

    Many thanks for the replies.

Your offer to print the DVD for me spakkker is really appreciated and I might take you up on it if all the other options fail.

I haven't got Lightscribe optical disc burner but it would be an option if I wanted to spend some money.

I tried the marker and printable labels route before the R200 spoilt me.

Thanks for tip about the grip on the tray, Nilrem. When the problem first occurred I tried that without any success. I then found a detailed procedure on how to replace either the intake rollers or a part which accepts the tray in the main body of the printer.....it was one step to far for me! I will have another go with the tray.
