Hotel in Glasgow

I have had trouble finding a suitable hotel in Glasgow for 2 nights next week. I have to attend a funeral and the cost of rail travel is expensive because I need to travel on Wednesday. Eventual got a fare 2 singles for £71.60 from Harrogate plus £5 for special delivery to get the tickets in time. Unable to pick them up at Harrogate.
I looked at city hotels with a lot having no availability and very high prices for what was. Holiday Inn Express £140 night cheapest Jury's £130 and Premier Inn's in not too good an area £89. I could have been paying £350-over £400 for a good 4* Crazy1
In the end I found a beautiful hotel on European city web site in the south side of the city which suits me better.
Sherbrook Castle Hotel a truly stunning hotel with just 11 rooms one site said but I see another saying 18.
Trip advisor reviews are great and they have a great web site. I booked with Bookings.com who were the only site with availibility and paid £105 for double for single occupancy including breakfast. The hotel also had 2 rooms available and cost £108 so £116 as opposed to £110. I am looking forward to a roll top bath and enjoy the Multimillion renovation the hotel has had recently. It is 1800 and something so very historic and I was so pleased to find it in the end.
I don't know if there is something on in Glasgow to account for the high prices except that this weekend is a holiday there but that should not roll over into Wed & Thurs,=.
