Help with cleaning tile grout

Ok, we had our bathroom done some time ago and now the tile grout round the bath/shower is black.
Can anyone suggest anything effective but MSE to whiten the grout without damaging my blue tiles.
Hubby has come back from the in-laws saying that mil told him to use to use Cillit Bang in the purple bottle, but I've used it in the past and found it too harsh and it took the sheen off my tiles, so I refuse to use that.
Any help would be appreciated.

Cheapest is not to let it get black in the first place. It gets black with mildew, mould etc because it's being left damp. Keep an old towel handy, dry it off after every shower, and clean regularly to prevent it starting in the first place.
If you definitely mean the grout lines between the tiles, and not the flexible sealant between bath/shower and tiles, I've found the grout brush from Lakeland to be easiest to handle, and in conjunction with a regular spray cleaner, does the job well, without scratching the tiles.0 -
Hi, we have a white bathroom and the tiles are still as good as new 3 years on as i always clean them and keep them clean with bleach or flash spray etc. I was shocked to see a friends a few weeks back who has an identical house to us (built the same time) black with mould which means obviously keeping it clean etc is the key. Try and spray some flash with bleach on and then keep them clean and dry..the pens work initially but dont last long imo and take quite a long time if you have lots of grout to do.
Good luck x0 -
The only thing that will work is HG mould remover http://www.hgmaintenance.com/products/?applicationID=103 (bleach will just take the colour of the mould away) it should be available from tile shops and some diy places xI love my New Year's day baby girl Olivia xx:happyhearxx0

I don't like bleach TBH.
I know its too late for you but I'd go for some tea tree oil in some warm water and give the tiles a regular quick wipe over.0 -

Use an old toothbrush and a mixture of half cold watecr and half bleach and scrub the grout. Leave on for about half an hour and the wash off. Do this on a regular basis and it keeps the grout white.0

Us this Lakeland brush instead - the bristles are just the right texture, and the larger handle lets you get a good grip of it - toothbrushes are too small and fiddly, in my view.....0 -
If its well ingrained into the grout none of the above will shift it. Rake it all out and redo it - its the only way to ensure you have removed all the spores.. Use Microban or similar to regrout.
