Anyone used doorhandlesuk.com?

Hi, i was just wondering if any of you have used doorhandlesuk.com and if it is a good company. It seems that they are closed until 28th September and this seems a bit dodgy to me as I wish to order some handles worth atleast £600 in total. Thanks in advance.

  • LOL £600 worth of door handles? Surely all the other residents in the block of flats can order their own

Its a big house mate. Went crazy counting up all the locks, latches, handles etc. Its got around 30 doors lol.
  • Yes I used them and never again...

    Can't speak to anyone.

    Terrible customer service.

And a completely inflexible returns process you will suffer from if you ever need to return stuff. Which when choosing online is fairly common.

Take my advice and steer well clear!

I got some nice unusual ones here...

My Mind wanders, if found please return.
  • Hi cmj01 did you actually get what you ordered from them and was the stuff okay? They just seemed to disappear off ebay the other day but I got an email off them. I haven't ordered anything from them but they are really cheap for what your getting, what I'm wondering is are you going to get anything. i checked their postcode on google maps and it's a cottage in the middle of the countryside.:T
  • I did but the quality was pretty poor - a lot of the brass screws didn't have slots and were very soft (m.marcus ones)

biggest gripes were with service - can't get them to answer phone, poor customer service.

not worth the risk - you'd be better off buying locally where you can see the product first, or somewhere sympathetic to returns. i missed my return window by a few weeks as I was away and they refused to take product back even through they were still selling it.
  • Placed an order with these guys in July.
Quality was ok, and my order was complete.
My trouble started when one of the handles developed a fault.
I've filled in their online customer service email to ask about how to return an item. In fact I've emailed them 3 times over a month without reply.
I then called the phone number for sales but they never answer the phone. Instead all you get is an answering machine.
First couple of times I left a message about returns. And surprise surprise I didn't get a call back.
So I got clever and left a message about placing an order.
And again I was shocked (being totally sarcastic) they called me back within 5 minutes. I started to explain about returning an item and the guy put the phone down.
AVOID these guys at all cost!

never buy cheap door handles we bought some handles that were a very similar design to some in howdens but nearly half the price
absoulte crap covers over the screws were warped so cross threaded two handles snapped clean off
out of the 7 we ordered 3 needed replacing they replaced them and sent two extra as they had confirmed problems with most of their batch
  • I'd just like to add that I used doorhandlesuk.com earlier this year. The quality of the items wasn't good and I wanted to return some of them, so I followed the returns process and got no refund. They said they did not receive my parcel, but I had it tracked and signed for on receipt by them.
We even happened to be nearby in Cornwall, so decided to call in to their ramshackled warehouse. There was no one there except a delivery driver who called him. The owner said he was 5 minutes away. The driver told him he had a customer waiting and we overheard him reply "tell them I'm 50 miles away". We waited a while but gave up.
4 months later I'm still owed £70. I have written to him telling him h e is breaching distance selling regulations and have asked my credit card to get my refund.
I've been shopping online since online shopping was invented, but these lot take the crown for a total lack of care to their customers. AVOID
  • I recently used Hinges and Brackets - not the cheapest but they could match some pretty obscure handles and the quality was first class. I went in person to a shop but I think they also do mail order - http://www.hingesandbrackets.co.uk/
