    Is it 100% liability accepted?
  • Who should I send the letter to?
All I've got of TP is Kwik-fit (brokers) and not their actual insurers. Should I contact TP to know of their actual insurers.
    Thanks

My car was hit in the rear. TP admitted liability at the time of accident.

Did you take out the optional legal expenses insurance when you took out the policy? Drive Assist are probably your legal expenses insurer who will handle the claim for you, in which case you have paid a premium up front for them to deal with the claim on your behalf. They are similar to 'now win no fee' agents its just the costs are covered by an insurance policy that you have paid up front.

Personally I would contact the third party and obtain their insurance details i.e. company and policy number. Then go to them direct, they will then probably ask you to go to one of their approved repairers and deal with the bill themselves, this cuts out the middle man and should be a lot quicker. Generally its the garage that will provide you with a couresy car and not the insurer.

In simple cases like rear shunt incidents such as these its always easier to go direct to the third party insurer unless there is a personal injury involved.

I would also recommend that you avoid the 'no win no fee' agents at all costs as these are the people who are pushing up your insurance premiums, typically the costs they charge to insurers are 70% more than the amount you get paid out and often a lot higher. I have seen claims where the damages were £1,000 put the costs were £3,500!!!

The more the insurers have to pay the more they charge their customers, simple economics!

I've texted Tp for info and he got back to me. He advised me that he has informed his insurers of the incidence and i'll call him tomorrow to get the details of insurer and policy number.
    Thanks.
