Hi lbr102 - all you need to do is put your budget goal in big red letters so MrsM can see it when she does a sweep & then you'll be added to the pages at the front of the thread.
Don't worry my month starts on the 25th as well, so I'm already doing my nov GC even though it's still Oct as 25th is payday.
Plus others do a weekly GC so if this is better for you, you can give a weekyl target & declare everyweek, it's really up to you, what ever works best.
Good Luck :T
Can I please join in for November pleases MrsM? My target is £70 for the month. (How on earth do I change font sizes?!?)0 -
everyone we know to bring what ever they want to that they don't want left over after boxing night We had such a suprise when everyone turned up with something and at the end I told everyone to help themselves to what ever they fancied that was left .
How fabulous and what a good idea!0 -
Thanks for tips Lanny!

When you post your reply use the drop down box to the left of the box to change text colour & it will give you examples of what sizes you can use.0 -
Well we're still in the same month and still spending...I'm sticking to a calendar month as OH gets paid fortnightly, and my money is 4-weekly plus end of month so any way is confusing!
I have the car today and don't know when I'll have it again so have to take advantage. I have to go to a particular town and it's not far from the nearest L1dl so am trying to see if it's worth going there.
I can also go to MrS on the way back, so can call in to see what F&V/cheese are on offer. Not sure if we need anything other than cheese so will have a proper look in a minute - if not I shan't go to either of those.
Then I can call in at the farm shop for eggs. I do agree about the price of eggs, why on earth have they gone up so much?
The f/shop ones are £1.70 for a dozen large f/range, and lately they've been increasing their stock so have had pullets eggs really cheap. But, it's just over 8 miles away so can't go if it's just for eggs. I try to buy enough there, but once in a while have to get 6 of the sm ones.
Oh need to update sig. I was getting a bit upset at how much we were spending, although it's the first month, but I found a s/sheet from 2004. Circumstances were very different, but was still for OH & I, his 2 boys of course were a lot smaller (and no dog). We spent £568 in a month which looks about average, so maybe I'm being too hard on myself.0 -
I would like to join for November please!

Please put me down for £200 for November and I will try againMAR GC /£346
The great, good and not so good bits about growing your dinner 20170 -
Overall spend of €42 this week. €21 in farmer's market (10 on 3 curry spice mixes, 7 on a pumpkin, and 4 on apple juice) and €21 in local small SM (2 seperate trips, but bread, milk, naan bread, coconut milk (x2), lime, cooked meat, cream and natural yoghurt).
Also got a batch of sloes, rosehips, some damsons and a bag of apples (mixture of cookers and eaters) while in MIL's for weekend (I picked most, but she had the apples from the castle next door already). The sloes are already in gin, I am going to attempt rosehip syrup tonight, and I am making freezer space for some cooking apples which I'll stew first.
DD is away this week, so that in itself makes savings. And DH is out tonight, while we are both out tomorrow night. So I have almost no cooking to do. But I have to get my supplies in for builders due next week (so tea, coffee and biscuits!). I made a nasi goreng from freezer bits on Monday, and a curry from scratch (using chicken in freezer) last night - the leftover sauce has been frozen now for another day as it really is tasty and does work well defrosted. I am having a defrosted chorizo potato bake for my dinner today, I think.
This weekend, I will be spending about €100 (I need a few storecupboard staples, and if I spend €93 more in Dunnes, I get €30 extra spending in December), so I don't mind going over this month. Overall, I am still under for the year (I have about €92 spare, based on averaging my budget over the 52 weeks) and I actually have a lot in for the next few months. So I may actually come reasonably on target overall (although we have yet to decide on where to spend Christmas, which would decide whether we need a turkey/goose ourselves, or eat in MILs).
Must remember to go up to plot this week and collect the beans before they go over....
Oh, can you put me down for €450 for November please, Mrs Macawber? I think that is a reasonable aim, and would leave me with about €600 for December to play with (not including my extra vouchers due from most SM's that month).GC 2010 €6,000/ €5,897
GC 2011:Overall Target: €6,000/ €5,442 by October
Back on the wagon again in 2014

I had to take DH for a hospital appointment in Glasgow yesterday driving through rural west coast. BANG! one pheasant hit the car , then straight across the road another car hit another. I marked the spot and on the way home picked up the brace of pheasant.
I'm okay with butchery so both birds were de- feathered and jointed that night. Tonight I had pheasant with butternut squash in a rich cream and porchini sauce(porchini were picked by us too).I fed 5 of us and we're left with another 3 portions. It was amazing for roadkill! At this time of year the birds are released from their cages to roam free but they are really dolly birds and they just wander out into traffic. May need to check the local roadsides for the next few weeks.:rotfl:
russetred - How lucky was that! Hope there wasn't too much damage to the Car.;) I can imagine the area you are in - before moving down to London we lived near Glasgow and had a Static caravan in Ayr, love the Ayrshire coast and hoping to visit next Summer.
Well today is the first day of my November GC but don't need anything from the Shops and planning to use everything from Freezers and cupboards wherever possible. Dinner tonight will be Lasagne and HM chips, just realised don't have any salad in but I think I might pick a cabbage from Allotment, shred it with some carrots and make a HM Coleslaw. Pudding will be something using Cooking apples as I've just picked the last from the Tree in the Garden.:D
Determined that for November I will keep a note of NSD as I do have rather an addiction to Food shopping and really need to try and curb my addicition.:o
Good luck everyone.;)"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.
