I have been offered a second hand laptop for my grand daughter (10) Toshiba satellite P10 4 years old I dont think it has wireless so I will have to buy a dongle. The only thing is when I said how much, I was told give us what you think!.
I am not very technical and not sure what to offer him.
What do you think?
Thank you

Not really enough info to say - they made the P10 in a range of specs, with different CPUs and various hard disk sizes. Some only had 256Mb of memory fitted as standard. Does it have a legit version of Windows installed? Does the battery still hold a charge?
When you have a complete spec, look at the completed listings on Ebay for a similar model and offer them that (less a bit because they would lose maybe 10-15% in fees on Ebay).0 -
Here is a link to Toshiba P10's sold on ebay.

If it is the lower spec then I would offer £700 -
Also, the laptop was introduced seven years ago.... though it is possible that model could have been purchased four years ago.
As long as there are no problems with the screen, globalds's suggestion seems reasonable. Especially if you have to fork out for more RAM.
If you can get the full model number, we can tell you more.0 -

Do you think a four to seven year old battery will hold much of a charge?
Buying these things are a risk, so the price should reflect that.
If it has a PCMCIA card slot, you can buy a Wireless Card for £7.80. That way you can keep the USB slots free for peripherals(webcams etc).
If not, then a USB Adapter for £5.90. If you have a BT HUB or similar router(Wireless 'N'), you can purchase a Wireless N USB adapter for £9.80 which may get you a stronger signal if necessary.0
