carpet cover door strip things

i need to get some of these metal things that cover over, protect and join two sections of carpet in doorways... I'm not sure what they are called and I hope this describes them enough that you know what I mean!
From what I can find, they seem to come in three different widths - 30mm, 60mm and 90mm - I'm looking for 60mm but I'm also looking for them to be 750mm long and all the ones I can find (online and in DIY stores) are 900mm long.
Can anyone tell me if that is just the standard and I'm supposed to cut it to fit my doorways? OR if shorter lengths are available but just not anywhere I've looked!? Does this mean I have especially narrow doorways?
Thanks!

Yep, just cut it to length with a hacksaw. Most of them are aluminium, and so cut really easily. If you don't have a hacksaw, and you just need it for this one off job, then just buy a cheap junior hacksaw for a couple of pounds and it will do the job.
Be careful when you cut it to keep the spacing of the drilled holes even. You may need to cut a bit off each end to maintain that even spacing.
