Why don't you use an e-mail client like Outlook or Outlook Express etc?

You can get a extension for Firefox (email notifier) that will remember you password/user ID for Gmail I have 5 gmail accounts for various things. A prompt comes up when you got email

I did say etc. and you can still use gmail with a POP3 client. Don't need an invite. I prefer to only use web mail whilst travelling.

yeah I think the point is gmail allows pop3 access, one of the few that do these days. By setting up *your client of choice* you can check multiple accounts just by starting the client up. Install google desktop if you want to retain google search functionality. But, do whatever you prefer :). Obviously!

I thought I already said that in my post above ;)

As said you can use pop3 (outlook express) with gmail. In gmail setting you can forward email to your favourite pop3 account that your isp uses. That way you can read email in outlook and still have some degree of protection from spam by using gmails filters. The only downside is that gmail can filter genuine email too but more often that not it doesnt always block genuine email.
