Halifax Bank Charges Grrrrr!!!
Comments

Write them a letter!!!!!
I got charged over £200 in charges by Halifax about 1 month ago. (i went £20 overdrawn in a couple of transactions)
I had £102 refunded back to me after i kicked up a stink. Which is still scandalous!
Halifax are jokers, i will be closing my account.0 -
Now now people!
I think this forum, and others, are about support/ guidance/ advice. Opinions obviously come into it. Opinionated and judgemental, however, are clearly another matter altogether.
Cut and dried. Black and white. Inflexible.
We are not all the same. Thankfully.DO NOT MEDDLE IN THE AFFAIRS OF DRAGONS, FOR YOU ARE CRUNCHY AND TASTE GOOD WITH KETCHUP0 -
and as for this `Float` business!!! i cannot believe what some of you are saying!!! Especially on a money saving website!
We dont all have the facilities to have a couple of hundred quid sitting in our account all the time!

Instead of buying a new television or hifi, or maybe a new pair of shoes, build up your float.
Apologies that this gets your back up, but are you really telling me that you're living on baked beans and lentils, never go out, and haven't deviated from that since graduating?
The banks are entirely justified to charge you. And with this knowledge, you build up a float so that they can NEVER charge you.
I'm really sorry that you take exception to someone pointing out the screaming obvious.
I think that is a bit below the belt ts_aly2000.
Some people don't go and 'buy new hi-fi or televisions'. Their entire wage could go towards bills, paying back debts and essentials. I do not think it is very fair that you assume they are frittering the money away.
And yes, some people do live on basic food and do not have a social life - Because they are trying their hardest to clear their debt.
I can understand, slightly, where you are coming from, but I also feel that you are being very judgemental and making assumptions without any facts, which is very foolish.
Your idea about having a 'float' is a good one. I do the same myself, but I also understand that some people are not in the same position as I am, and do not have the chance to do this.
Everything is not always black and white.
Anyways - I definately think you should try and claim back the charges! If I were you, I would!0 -
I would just like to say I really appreciate everyones support on here. I dont go out and spend ANY money on non essentials but put it towards my bills and debts. I only started this thread to see if anyone else had gotton some money back from the Halifax!!!
But what Ii will say, is this is a forum that people have support on and we dont need people coming on here telling us they have a float to fall back on, its not helpfull, and if you dont have anything constructive to say dont say it at all. :rolleyes:To quote my English Teacher:
Your life is like a path of driven snow, be careful how you tread for every mark will show.....0 -
Carli- don't justify your post. TY_Aly wasn't being personal, 'twas only her opinion.
Unhelpful maybe, but, one thing about these forums is if you publicly air your troubles, you may not always hear what you want to hear. Good with the bad and all that.
TY_ALYs' comments were constructive, just ever so slightly delivered with a kick!
Edited to add- my husband was reading all this over my shoulder. He thinks TY_ALY is right. 100% Right. So, there you go, different folks and all that. Needless to say, we fight a lot........DO NOT MEDDLE IN THE AFFAIRS OF DRAGONS, FOR YOU ARE CRUNCHY AND TASTE GOOD WITH KETCHUP0 -
