While I'd agree the Canon original is overpriced, I've never had one fail. I generally have one or two originals and 2 or 4 copies (depending on the camera and the usual battery life). Over the years (been using Canon digital SLRs for at least 15 years) I've had '2 copies' fail on me and been glad of having spares.

I'd never go with just one of the cheapos as a backup if the pictures were going to be important to me.

I got an unbranded spare for my Nikon at less than half the Nikon price (£40+). Had it for 4 years, alternate it with the real one, lasts just as long !

Duracell now £12.99........why do Play muck around with prices so much. Duracell not a "Known" manufacturer? China? even "Denon" are now made in China.

Canon's are very highly priced- I've had a number of Hahnel's in the past, and think they're reasonable enough for the performance they give.

All my spare batteries for my (pro) cameras are Hahnel - they're at least as good as the orginal Canon ones in terms of performance (tested over many years and intensive use!), cheaper, and also have all the proper safety built-in (i.e overcharging cut-off) which many of the dirt-cheap off ebay probably don't have.
