Rugby World Cup 2011

For my 30th, my partner and I are thinking of going to New Zealand for the Rugby World Cup.
We've had the brochures from Gullivers, but cost is looking like £5-6000 each, and the tours they do would mean 4-5 weeks away, which we cannot afford with work.
Any ideas about where to start (do we do it ourselves or go package deal), to go for 2-3 weeks, ideally taking in Wales v Fiji on 2nd October, and a quarter final game? We are open to the idea of hotels or campervans.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated

Ideally, I would love to do a trip with Gullivers or Thomas Coook. The Thomas Cook one is:
WALES - Game 4 & QF
Our PINE Tours take in the 4th group game, Wales v Fiji (2nd October) in Hamilton (staying in Hamilton or Auckland) and both quarter-finals (8th & 9th Oct) in Wellington with a short break between matches to Rotorua. The MANOAO PINE TOUR stays in Auckland for the Wales v Fiji game while the MATAI PINE TOUR stays in Hamilton.
This is the sort of thing I'm looking for, but with TC it's just under £4000.....0
