No, but I am a vet in Surrey. At our practice (which doesn't offer health plans) your annual vaccination as above would be about £47 and would include a full annual health check (including teeth) and nail clipping as described, which leaves over £100 compared to the plan you describe to cover flea and worm treatment for the year (and the 6 month check included in the plan between the annual vaccinations). A year's supply of flea and worm treatment would not cost as much as £100 at our practice (and you might not want to treat as often as every month anyway), so, unless this plan actually covers any treatment when the cat is ill, it doesn't sound like you would be saving much money to me. Hope this helps.0

But the flea treatments work out expensive when you have to pay for an appointment to get them.
£153.90 it works out, multicat so 5% off.
Thank you0 -
How much are people paying for vet flea meds? Factoring in visit and/or prescription costs?0

you can buy wormers and flea treatments online alot cheaper. I do shop around everytime but generally use Pet supermarket and Petmeds, both are normally on either Quidco or Topcashback. I personally dont use flea treatments as dont need to, never have had a prob with them, luckily, but dont know why you need an appointment to get them - if you PM me, I will send you a link as I think TCB have an introduction offer for referrals, every little helps!0

I don't think regular frontline is any good.
I use the vet frontline or Stronghold or Advocat.0 -
Why would you need an extra appointment to get flea treatments? You could buy a year's worth at the vaccination appointment if you bought a pack of six per cat then, unless you want to treat them every month all year round. Our practice doesn't charge for checkups if it's just for flea meds anyway, even if it's an animal we haven't seen before otherwise, since we would rather they bought an effective treatment from us than one that doesn't work so well from a pet shop, so we never charge anyone for a flea meds checkup. I don't know whether charging for flea medicine checks is common - is it?0

Hi MrsE - is there any need for you to make an appointment in order to get the flea treatment? It sounds a bit odd. I buy my flea treatments from the reception area at my vets (no need for consult) but I'm increasingly finding that many chemists now stock Frontline/Advocate/Advantage/Stronghold etc. as well as Drontal.
I would question with your vet as to why you need an appt.... it's very unusual. :huh:0 -
Our practice runs one of these too - it factors in some discounts (10% off consults, free nail clipping) - but the main benefit is supposed to be spreading the cost which you could do yourself with a savings account (if you have the will power not to spend it!)......0

I have opened up a gap between health plan and pay-as-you-go so that it encourages its uptake. The regular prices go up but the health plan has stayed the same. Flea/worm and vaccs + other discounts for £9 per month for a cat and £10 for small dog.Garantissez-moi de mes amis, je saurai me defendre de mes ennemis0

Mrs E - "I don't think regular frontline is any good. I use the vet frontline or Stronghold or Advocat" - as I said above, I dont use the stuff, but I wasnt aware there is a difference - its the same make? I think SooZoo is right also, I am sure I have seen the products at Tesco at the pharmacy. I agree some vets will do schemes but you dont need an appointment to get them. I can only speak as I find, and I get my drontal wormers via Petsupermarket or Petmeds and via topcashback. I then get sent various discounts once in a while which helps, like free p&p0
