Taylor Wimpey won't give me back my £500

I put in an offer to buy a Taylor Wimpey house after I accepted my buyer's offer. I had to pay £500 deposit ("reservation fee") to TW to secure the property. Then, my buyer pulled out because of financial problems.
TW won't give the £500 back. Can I do anything about this?
Thanks in advance

Woud you still buy the TW property if you managed to re-sell? How long do have before you have to exchange contracts? Can you do an Assisted Purchase plan with them? If so, they will use your £500 to hold against the plot whilst you sell.Christians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0

Was just a till receipt with the 500 pound debited. I understood the rules before I signed, doubt there is anything I can do now to be honest.
Why ask here then?
Seriously you have my sympathy.
Think of it as a lucky escape. New Builds are subject to all sorts of problems these days many of which the NHBC will try and wriggle out of.0
