southern electric / debt on meter

i have a prepay meter and back in january this year i was told they were coming to change the meter and they needed a full meter reading and they gave me a form to fill in with every detail on it .
whilst cycling through the different readings and writing each one down i noticed that we had a charge of £2 but a debt of £0 , i asked my partner how long we had been paying this debt for and she said she for as long as she can remember .
i sent the form back with a letter asking this exact question , i have yet to have a reply , i rang and they said it is being looked in to , i rang again and again but to no avail .
my question is this why do we have to pay £2 for a debt we dont have ???????
how can we calculate how much money over the years having we been throwing at s.electric ? (roughly about 5 yrs) thats alot of money !!!!!
who do we talk to about this ?

i would very much appreciate any advice .
kind regards .

Only your supplier can really give you the answer to why you specific charges on your meter.

If you are not getting any suitable response over the phone, notch the complaint up a level and write to them.

Are you not receiving regular statements regarding your PPM account?
Even if not, the supplier will know how much in total you have paid over the years (at least the last 6), the amount you've consumed over the same time, any other charges if applicable, and so be able to demonstrate any current balance (if any), positive or negative.

I'm sure most energy suppliers will respond to written complaints. If they don't they leave themselves open to the complaint being escalated to the appropiate ombudsman for investigation.
