Solo Traveller to New York

hi, ive been wanting to go back to NYC this year, but its just so expensive to go alone, it was when i went in april '08, and prices seem to have risen since then, (everyone i know is either too skint to go or is at work so alone is only option) has anyone got any tips, good sites etc etc for getting a better deal on flights/hotel in NYC? i want to stay in a hotel, and not a hostel, i do prefer having a private bathroom, and id probably more comfortable about my belongings in my own room. i think another problem i have is that i can only go at certain times, and it has to be over a weekend, (main reason for going again before years end is so i can see an NFL game.) thanks in advance, and sorry if this kinda thing has been asked before.

  • Hi, can I suggest you try Tripadvisor New york Forum. There are several members from New York who are very knowledgable regarding this question and give very good advice on possible options if you post your dates and budget.
Sorry I do not have enough knowledge to give you any specific information but I am sure you will find the tripadvisor site useful.

Soulforged, you don't really say what you want to know? If you are looking for good value hotels, I would (and do) use Priceline. If you do a search you will find a guide on how to get the best deals on there.
    Gone ... or have I?

NYC needn't be expensive but it really depends on your budget and how close to downtown you want to stop. Personally, when I'm New York alone I'm just looking for somewhere to crash after a long day (and night) out on the town so I'm prepared to rough it a little for somewhere fairly central.
