Any tips on getting renewal cheaper?

Hi,

Last year our car insurance was £236 fully comp with LV, that's for me and the wife.

Got the renewal after again a year of no claims and now they want £311!!!!

Right I thought off to the comparison sites to get it cheaper and with luck also cashback!

All I can say is WOW I just cannot find any cheaper insurance out there even a new quote from the LV is £200 dearer, how can that be?!

All the comparison sites and insurance sites I have tried are around the £4,5,600 mark taking the proverbial p#^*!

Looks like my last option is to phone the LV up and try and get the renewal quote down?

Anyone else in the same position?

Anyone any tips on how to approach this?

Never blagged so to speak a discount from a renewal quote as I have always found something way cheaper!

Cheers now

  • Always worth going to back to the insurer to see if they can help. They wont want to lose the business.

The problem you have is that premiums have increased with all insurers. Have you tried the companies not on comparisons like Direct Line or Aviva? If not give them a go and also contact a couple of brokers they quite often have schemes that are not available online.

  • Yes cheers benjaminM,

Tried what you have mentioned aviv and direct line were like £500/£600!

I realize that premiums have gone up but that's just ridiculous.

I have never had a renewal premium which was less or the same amount from the original premium no matter how many no claims you have acquired just seems a big scam really as it will always go up up and up.

Anyway looks like I will give them a call and if needs be through gritted teeth have to accept the renewal quote!

    Cheers again
