Yeah I would advise to avoid them as a purchase place, but not for browsing, where you can actually see what something looks like, before buying off the net cheaper.

Based on what games she plays your best bet is what Donnie said in Post 5 about a refurb laptop.

other factors to consider would be , Where would the computer be used? What type of internet do you have and do you have a wi fi router?

I not want to recommend anything because refurbs are not my thing. I did do a quick search and found this site, never heard of them but I'm sure someone else has http://www.studentcomputers.co.uk says not just for students. They have a Dell Latitude for £199 which spec wise would be good.
    Survey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £574

Are you teasing us again Dave? ;)
  • I would imagine the computer would be used mainly in her room or living room, where I have BT broadband & homehub router.

Thanks, I will take a look at the dell now.

The thing about a PC is that it is upgradable, in that if she wants to play more heavy duty games in the future it may be possible to upgrade the graphics card etc

Whether you can find a full package with a 12 month warranty for under £250 is another thing altogether.
  • PC world have PC's starting at £209 check site "pcworld.co.uk" PC's then REFURBISHED.
  • And they come with 12 month warranty.
