Winter Garden
Hi Everyone!
I have a little garden in which I fill pots with flowers and bulbs over the spring summer months but I now have no idea what to pot for winter :snow_laug as my garden is looking a little sad. Does anyone have any ideas what I could put in my pots?
Thanks in advance!

Winter pansies or violas are a cheap option that bring lots of lovely colour. I saw Homebase had their reduced last week. They will last for a while.
If not, maybe you could invest in a couple of evergreens so at least you have something to look at.

I have two camelias in pots, plus a hebe underplanted with variegated ivy.0

1. Heather
2. Grasses
3. Shrubs some of them have berries.
The advantage of the grass and the shrubs is that you can mix them with pansies etc and they last all year. The only thing you have to do is divide them and/or cut them back every spring.

Looked OK too. But I couldn't believe how potbound that dogwood was!0 -
Senecio Cineraria,
Gorgeous silver foliage that looks frosty all winter long, i'm a huge fan its my favourite plant, its supposed to be an annual i think but if you nip off the flowers it keeps going and forms a little bush....so pretty in pots with some deep red cyclamen.
I've seen some of both cheaply in morrisons.

DIY stores are expensive.
Are there any local greengrocers or independent hardware near you that sell plants? Even one of the florist near me that sells plants is cheaper than a DIY store.
Alternatively join a local horticultural society they are bound to have plant sales. Though you have probably missed the autumn one.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

I agree on violas - bought a lot of plugs and they have come on really well now. Also have polyanthus but no sign of colour yet.0
