Non-paying bidder question

Hi all, just after some advice please. Sold some items on 20th sept (evening), 1 item has not been paid for or any contact from buyer. So this morning I send a (polite) message as to whether there is any problem. Within 20 mins of my messaging them they respond with "sorry, have been working nites, tired, forgot to pay etc", they then offer to pay by sending me a cheque or saying they can pay by paypal on Tuesday when they get paid. I do not want to accept the cheque payment as by the time I receive it and it clears it will be another week. I am not an unreasonable person and I appreciate that we all have work/family commitments etc but I feel that they have bid on this item fully knowing that they cannot pay for it until a week or so later. So do I open an NPB case against them tonite (as they will still have until Tues eve to pay) or do I wait until Tuesday as they have stated and hope they pay then? Hope this all makes sense, TIA.

Woah! I dont think you should report anything. Wait until tuesday, it's only 8 days after the auction ended. Also, I dont think you can do it anyway until after 7 days...did you say in your listing that you wanted payment immediately/within 3 days or w/e?0

I've just checked my ebay account and they have now marked it as "payment sent", I have not given them my address so how could they have sent it? can they get my address without my permission?
I thought you can open a NPB after 4 days and then close after another 4 days is this wrong? TIA0 -
It may come up on the ebay invoice, if you have selected that you accept cheques. If you don't accept cheques then tell them that you are unable to & need it paid by Paypal as per your auction.
You can now open a NPB after 4 days. It amazes me when people can find time to browse, & bid, but can't find the time to pay.
If they don't have the money until 8 days after an auction, why don't they at least contact you beforehand to ask if that's ok?0 -

Only 8 days?
Really, how long does it take to click a few buttons and make your payment?
As someone said above, it makes me laugh how buyers can find time to search, bid etc but not pay...... especially if they've found the time to message you to say why they haven't paid.
Maybe I'm being an old grump this evening but it seems to me at the moment that a lot of buyers are quite frankly taking the pee. It's really quite simple, if you don't want it don't flipping bid on it. You wouldn't go into Asda and do your shopping, then at the checkout say "oh, I'll be back in a week to pay for all this" now would you?
<and breath>You can't control everything in life....... your hair was put on your head to remind you of that
