Can I fit roof bars?
I am looking at the new shape ford mondeo estate but it would seem that every decent example I find in my price range <£9k doesn't have the roof bars (which I need to carry cycles).
Probably a stupid question, but can these roof bars be fitted at a later date?

Thule make some i presume a lot cheaper than ford ones, approx £140.
They fit into the door seal though, I never liked the sound of that idea. Other option getting some genuine roofrails
fitted then add some universal aftermarket bars.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
You can't usually fit oe roofbars as an aftermarket item.
They're expensive, and usually require taking out the roofliners, and occasionally retro-fitting the mounts inside.
A better option is something like the Thule aftermarket ones mentioned, I've never heard of any coming off.0 -
I've used the Thule Aero bars and bike carriers on a focus and two Golfs without a problem. On the Golfs the fixing goes under the door seals and on the latest model there isn't even a location point for the bracket which I was sceptical about. Once on though they don't move at all, even with two mountain bikes on top, or damage the vehicle.0
