How early can I switch?

I moved into my new place about 7 weeks ago. I'm with BG atm, but I want to use a comparison site to see if I could save money with another supplier.
However, I haven't had a bill yet. I've set up online account management, and BG have my opening meter readings. I'm due to put in my next lot of meter readings next week.
Do I need to wait a whole year to work out my average annual consumption before switching? Or is there any way I can infer my annual usage from this one month's data (don't have the heating on yet though so will obviously be much higher in winter).
This is for gas + elec btw.
Thanks!

You can switch whenever you like, but the accuracy of any outtput from a comparison site is only as good as the accuracy of the data you input.
Your supplier may be able to help in the estimate of your anticipated annual usage, perhaps based on previous occupants usage, but it will only be an estimate if you've not been there a year and previous occupants may have significantly different usage to you.
If you do switch tariff, keep a careful watch on your usage to see it matchs the expectations you used in the comparison. If you discover they were inaccurate assumptions, do the comparison again."Now to trolling as a concept. ....
