PCN in Aberdeen - any grounds for appeal?

I received a PCN in Aberdeen yesterday for parking in a resident only area rather than in a mixed residen/voucher area. I was displaying a valid voucher for the time that I parked.

I accept that in hindsight I probably was in a resident area but I felt the signage was not as clear as it should have been. There is nothing that I could see (in a brief look in heavy rain) on the road to differentiate in any way between the resident and voucher areas, just two signs on a pole pointing to residents one way and vouchers the other.

I parked on the residents side of the pole between a car that was parked over the boundary between 2 spaces (I have a small car which fitted in the remainder of the space OK) and a disabled space. My assumption was that as I could see nothing in the road to tell me which was which that the pole was not aligned exactly with the divide between the two areas (something I've seen often in Edinburgh, where there are road markings) and that the residents area started on the other side of the disabled space. Is it worth trying an appeal or should I just hand over the £30 for early payment and live with it?

Got to be worth appealing any Council PCN IMHO, even if you feel you are bang to rights. But do be ready for their rejection of any appeal at this early stage. It doesn't mean you don't have a case, just that the Council want you to pay up or force you to jump through more hoops to appeal further.

Personally, I would appeal any Council PCN to the adjudicator every time, as you only risk paying the full fine (non-discounted) no costs or anything else as long as you meet all deadlines.

Post about your query on pepipoo.com with a pic of the PCN (front and back, all the small print and dates). Just blank out your car ID and PCN number:

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks Coupon-mad, I will do that. I'm not holding out much hope for getting off but you never know and at least it makes the council work for their money :)
