I had a clear out recently and got rid of tons of useless stuff on my pc.
One of the things I took off my pc was microsoft office, I forgot I was using outlook as my email client.
I'm not bothered about recovering outlook, but can I get back my old emails ?
Are they stored in a seperate folder ?

they are stored in a file that ends .pst, not sure if there is another application apart from outlook that will read this though.Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0

Try 'Documents and Settings\<your login name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst0

Outlook needs to be installed for the import in OE to work.0

What you need is a pst to eml converter.
This will convert a file of e-mails into individual messages which you can then drag & drop into OE in exactly the same way you'd move files between folders & drives.
You can also get pst to dbx converters but I've always found that importing dbx files into OE is a pain in the butt & seems to rely to a large extent on luck and/or perserverance to make it happen reliably0 -
I've lost my copy of outlook...so that option is not feasable.Chippy_Minton wrote:Outlook needs to be installed for the import in OE to work.
I'm not bothered about getting outlook back again....If I had it I'd use it, I just want my emails back again.
but I've just discovered mozilla do an email client called Thunderbird.
I'm gonna give this a try and see how I get on with it.
I'll try this pst to eml converter which alan suggested and see what happens.
Thanks all !
