Gorgeous Shoes without a 4 inch heel?

Dr Martens do a range of heels which are relatively low. They're chunky as well so give you the comfort of wedges. The TUK range are good for the same reason but they are marketed at alternative people so may not be your cup of tea.

I disagree with the idea of grinning and bearing it personally. I used to wear heels all the time but then I moved to an area where the streets are a lot more difficult to walk on. I now find it agonising, and even though I continued to try to wear heels a few times it ruined the night having to cling on to my understandably unsympathetic boyfriend, and I still have a scar on my foot since the last time I wore heels in July.

I'm now a firm lover of flats. There are plenty of going out and formal flats out there, your feet will thank you for it and you will look much better than the women who stumble in their 4 inch heels at the end of the night and have to walk home bare foot ;)

I could have done with these sort a mere 15 years ago. Their heeled shoes are exactly the height I want but didn't want the cartoon faces on them.
There are a couple of shoes on the Dr Martens but it's the cost

I know what you mean, I used to have a plain black pair of TUKs which went with everything and were ridiculously comfy. I wore them constantly until they started falling apart. Never did find a replacement because most of their designs are over the top, though I love the shape and chunky heel.

Keep an eye out when Dr Martens are on clearance- they usually have lots of size 8s available at cheaper prices. I managed to get a pair of their heels for £25 last year!

Have you looked in Marks and Spencers? There are some grannish shoes you have to wade through but there are some really nice ones too sorted into high heel and mid heel. The high heels look about three inches to me so may be more ideal than the mid which are mostly court heel height.

By the way, I am impressed you managed to walk barefoot in winter in Birmingham of all places- it's Birminghams streets that crippled my feet!

Well it was down Broad Street, through Paradise Forum and down Colmore Row so no horrible cobbles or anything :rotfl:

Have just checked out the mid heel shoes at Marks and as nice as some of them are they're all black or muted colours - I am more of a red shoe gal :rotfl:
