Aargh, just wanted to get this off my chest. Came home last night to find one of those nasty letters from the SLC basically saying 'we have been notified by HMRC that you are no longer employed or in receipt of any benefits, tell us how you are supporting yourself and provide proof, do this within 28 days or you may be fined', blah blah blah... well it's perfectly true I left my last job, which was only part time anyway (I was studying), but I started another one on the 13th September (3 days before the letter was dated!!!) and haven't even got my first payslip yet!

The work is temporary so does this mean I'm going to get one of those letters every time an assignment comes to an end? :mad:

I've got a good mind to ignore it, !!!!!! they'll be able to see for themselves I am employed and paying student loan contributions! Instead of being so quick to assume foul play maybe they should put all their efforts into making sure current students get their loans on time! :mad:

Well I got an identical letter last week sometime (just came back off honeymoon at the weekend and found it on the doormat). It relates to a change in ownership of the business I work for, which occurred in APRIL - basically the company became Ltd so I technically work for a different company now and SLC have obviously registered this as a complete termination of my employment. I didn't even start paying back my loan until one month after this change, yet they send me that dumbass letter 5-6 months later.

My boss told me to get used to it; she had no end of problems with SLC when she was paying back her loan.
