Ugh. I think I just spammed everyone!!

I was lying in bed - woke up coughing so couldn't sleep and checked my messages.

Go on to find 6 messages from customer services at like topshop/h&m (places I've used recently) where they thank me for my message sent 3 hours ago (I definitely didn't send anything), from my iphone!!

I check my sent messages folder and there are loads from me with a jpg image, I didn't manage to click it and then they all vanished, all the messages. I got up to check on here. I THINK I've been spamming everyone with "http://pharmaoz.com/" UGH. How horrible. This message wasn't from my iphone though.

What did I do? I didn't click any internal messages on my gmail account...and I definitely didn't give my password to any iffy companies :S

Is this a totally web based GMail account? i.e. the only way you access it it through your web browser? You don't use Outlook with it or any other e-mail software installed on your PC?

E-mail addresses are easily spoofed, however since you mentioned the items appear in your "sent items" folder, this is probably not the case and the items really have been sent from your account.

One possibility is that your GMail password has been guessed by an automated spamming robot. So you should change that immediately. Make sure you pick something difficult to guess i.e. not a word, a name or any simple combination of characters.

Another possibility is some form of virus or malicious software has found it's way onto your PC has accessed your GMail account. So you should run a virus check to be certain. I would probably use two different anti-virus programs in case one misses something. However there may be nothing to find, it could be that your password has been guessed.

Check for viruses, change the password and don't open unknown emails.

It's just so weird cause I dont click any spam stuff! Yeah, it's a web account, and on my iphone but that's it. I haven't put any new apps on my iphone which I initially thought it was. I've changed my password so hopefully nothing more :S

Could of been anything... could of been someone spoofing an e-mail address, using an automated attack that uses words from the dictionary to guess passwords.

Change password, make it alpha numeric and that should be it!

I keep getting those http://...... e-mails from friends hotmail accounts, but I guess they've been duped by some crappy mail and followed the instructions..
