Got a ticket and would like some advice

Hi,
I got a ticket on Monday (20th) for parking on the path beside a yellow line, having now searched I know that this is illegal (I didn't before the ticket)
I put in an informal challenge boefre I know about the legality, I have back the letter with the photos of my car parked. One thing that I have neoted is that the ticket says my car is grey and its not, my car is purple.
This is my first ticket and I was carrying out voluntary work at the time (school govenor class observations)
Anyone have any advice/guidelines as to how I can go getting this ticket cancelled, I cnat really afford the fine so anything would be helpful.
Thanks

forgot to add, that I was parked opposite the school on a wide pathway, that up to a few yers ago was grass, that the council decided to tarmac over.
My car was not obstructing either the road or the path.0 -

Just straddling a yellow line. Did you not think it might be there for a reason?I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair0 -

a) pavements/paths are not for cars
b) the road, where cars should be, had a yellow line painted on it. What did you think that was for? Did you think it was a "please park on the pavement" line?
c) if you know so little of the highway code you should perhaps buy a copy and read it so that you avoid such costly fines in future.

Think you get better advice on the forum below, they have people there that can get you off on most tickets in various ways.
You will need to register, read the faqs , and post a new thread about this, they will need scans of your ticket front and back, and images of signs lines and where you parked, just blank out the stuff that identifies you or your car, post the images on tinypic.
Good luck

They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -

The OP came for advice, not a lecture, so if you can't be bothered to offer advice, don't bother posting !Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
