what would happen should OP decide to replace carport with a brick garage? An extension? I wouldn't be happy either and I would also threaten to pull out unless its moved.

Can I just make something clear, the meter does not belong to your neighbour, it's owned by the electricity network provider and as such your neighbour should not require access to it. If they don't like the situation then it'll be up to them to have it moved.

If you actually read the thread yes it does.

If the OP accepts this last minute change and in a few years comes to sell the house. A sale could fall through due to this. As it sounds like a last minute change I would be questioning as why in a new build have they had to change the plans now to do this. What happened to the original positioning of the meter for the neighbours.

My guess is there has been a !!!!-up by the builder or architect and it's cheaper to leave it than correct the problem so they are trying to get away with it.

cyberbob, I did "actually read the thread", I just don't see what's so terrible about having someone periodically coming up my driveway to read a meter for about five seconds and then go away again.
  • I'm sorry but I still can't envisage this meter....or why it's in the OP's car port and not attached to the neighbour's house!
