Halloween Costumes

Options
I know this post is a bit early (Halloween WILL be here soon, you know!) but I was wondering if anyone knows of any places to get cheap Halloween costumes? Me and the neighbour have been nattering about the party which is going on down the road and we have what we want to go as but it looks as though it's going to be expensive to look good. With money being tight, it's a bit of a pain trying to get our outfits to look better than anyone else's :(

Are you going to a Halloween party? What will you be going as? What's the beat costume you have ever seen?

Best costume I ever saw was my friend's. He went as Bender from Futurama, but he made the costume himself with wire/mesh/proper material. It was AWESOME! Even had the cigar :rotfl: He had people stopping him all night to pose for pics with him!

Ebay - they have tons of costumes at reasonable prices - what were you thinking of going as???

Maybe you could out something togeter without much cost???
  • Not sure what costume you are looking for but I bought ours from XS-Party on ebay as they were the cheapest, have now discovered that they have their own website and the costumes were even cheaper with free delivery! It's worth a look, they also had a lot of accessories you might find something to help you out.
  • I was looking at going as a fairy but a dead one! Moneys extremely tight this year and I have found a cheapish one on eBay, but i dont want to get one and it to look really naff. I was considering making my own, but I doubt I will be able to get everything as cheap as the one I have found on eBay.

Thanks Nonnie, I shall have a look :)

  • Hello,

If you think of a few things that you might want to go as i.e) witch, zombie, cat etc. and then go round all your local charity shops and see if you can spot anything useful. Items such as long black dresses, lace cardigans, leggings etc can be picked up really cheap

Best costume I have ever seen was my boyfriend's when he dressed up as Dr Rockso the Rock and Roll Clown from Metapocalypse (I am somewhat biased because I tracked down everything he needed for the costume ;)) It involved getting a green lycra catsuit to fit a 6 ft man, so it was pretty difficult and more expensive than I would have liked, but it was worth it for the reactions of people who recognised him.

I like to stick to things that I can get cheap from charity shops or eBay. Zombies are always easy- with a few Snazaroo colours and fake blood you can easily make yourself look dead, and you can make it a bit different by doing a character zombie- i.e. bride zombie, school girl zombie etc- they're fairly easy outfits you would hopefully find in your local charity shop.

Not sure whether I myself will be hosting a party or whether I'll be going elsewhere, but I plan to go dressed as a Battle Royale girl. Should be fairly simple- just need a white shirt, beige skirt, red tie and a collar I will make myself (somehow!)
  • Hi dont know if its any help but our local homebargains had loads in on Monday, nothing cost more than £10. They had adults and childrens.
  • I think I have found the one that I want to go as now.

Does anyone have any experience in buying fancy dress outfits from ebay? Are they good quality? Good sizes?

I don't. Sorry :). I think it depends on the reliability of the seller. View the ratings.

    Poundland do plenty of accessories.;)

Go as someone with their head twisted round - normal clothes but backwards and a couple of fake arms holding onto your trick or treat back.
