Travel Insurance help

OK here we go I am concerned that my travel Insurance is twice or three times the amount of my Holidays. I have always enjoyed last minute holidays but a number of health issues make my holiday to much to take. I have a long standing back problem, A liver that needs transplanting (on a waiting list) and i was taking wafrin for a bloodclot. Is it worth the risk going on Holidays without insurance just the NHS card, or can anyone suggest any alternative or cheap insurance I am over the big 50 and did I mention I have Psoriases its a skin complaint that hates the sun and dissapears after a little while which is good for me. So if anyone knows of any really good and cheap Insurances let me know, I have tried the Insurance guide on martins main site nothing good there either.

No it is not worth the risk of going on holiday without insurance, especially with your medical record, unless you have the funds to pay for repartriation or medical bills if they became necessary.

There is no one size fits all even for people without PEMC's. For those with, you have no choice but to call several companies and get quotes which will cover them.

Don't give up if the first couple of companies either won't cover or are expensive. With a bit of perseverance you should be able to find suitable cover, but the liver problem may be a stumbling block.

    Hi,

i would definately echo what luci said, and would never ever reccommend even a fit & healthy person to travel overseas without adequate travel insurance - unless you have the neccesary funds to ensure medical bills and repatriation costs could be met.

what is the main ailment that is pushing the cost up? i would presume it would be the liver transplant (or waiting list for a liver transplant). have you tried asking the british liver trust if they have any reccommended insurance companies that they would reccommend, who may be more sympathetic to your needs.

have you also checked with your doctors to see if you should travel, and also the thought that when your perfect liver is available, and it has your name on it, you could be on holiday, and therefore unable to get back in time for the liver to be given to you?

I hope you find something suitable, and if so, hope you have a great holiday.

    Regards

  • It could be the Liver. The Back problem one of the questions asked is does it interfere with your daily life style my answer is yes it does i am unable to walk very far now, but i have learned to walk a little sit a lot and then carry on some more untill i am in real pain and need to lay down then i go back to the hotel and grab a sunbed. I know my back will not get better as the consultant told me the op was not a success and thats as much as they can do for me also I take some pain killers. and use mobility scooters too. But thats becoming my daily life style.

Well thats my rant for a day or 2 ;)

    Thanks for the advice
