I sent the recommended letter as in this post. Got a letter of apology last week. Haven't started the credit file clean up yet, sounds like that will be interesting.
    :D
  • I have rung them up and they said they will look into it, I told them I wanted all 3 credit reference agencies checking. I informed her that this debt had been settled/satisfied on my files and that the experience of bankruptcy is a traumatic experience and now it is 2 years on I dont want to keep having to deal with problems that have already been sorted by the original lender. I also said that a lot of people are getting these letters, she said when they bought them from citi the debts were supposed to be still ongoing and most people have been discharged already. They have a lot of work on their hands now. I have asked for an email and a letter in the post to tell me and my husband that are files are updated.

I last spoke to Cabot on 19/10 about this matter, the letter saying I owed a debt that they had bought form Cit when it was paid in IVA.

Although I was assured it would be sorted I have today checked my credit files to find Cabot have put defualt on my credit files for this debt

I will eb on phone to them on monday but just wanted to tell others to check their files even if Cabot said they knew the debt was paid and not owed.

  • Hi all- didnt want to read and run :)

Cabot put a default on my file too with wrong information, with Barclaycard.and tried sending me letters - anyhoo sent the relevant letters from Fermies sticky and hey presto information removed from my files :)
.I was discharged from B/R Nov 09- and just going the clean up process...some DCA's have tried buying debts even though they can be proved in my B/R :) Read Fermies sticky about cleaning credit files after B/R - it NEEDS to be done and default dates corrected. I sent Cabot one of the letters before action --- they soon shifted the wrong info off my credit files....muppets!! Got a few more to deal with and then clean files yay!!!
I still got a few DCA's sending me letters right up till me cleaning my files up. But its all changing now with the power of letters from here!!

  • and send EVERYTHING recorded delivery... I would also write letters as well as calling on t'phone....if you need to complain further down the line, to the ICO say you will need proof for complaint to be handled. Proof of receipt etc.

I have the letter done to fax and post on monday. I am just so p*ssed off as in March 2009 I went through the whole " cleaning up credit file " and now have to run after this one again. I ahve already, phoned and faxed in September and October . ordered copies of credit files and now got them again today

As well as Cabot I am alos writing to Citi as they are the ones who sold the debt on even though it was satisfied with IVA .

  • Ah I see, sorry I wasn't aware that you had already *cleaned up* I can see your frustration - it angers me when DCA's do this too.
Maybe you definatley have a case to complain to the ICO? worth a shot. Let them deal with CABOT.

Yes already got credit file sorted over 18 months ago. I have just looked out all my paperwork and acually have a letter from Citi dated May2009 saying they where marking account settled and changing default date to date IVA was agreed , so this would drop off May 2011, and then in September 2010 they sold the debt to Cabot.

Cabot then put default on October 2010 for this debt that is not a debt.
