  • I had letter from them this week too, same scenerio!
  • I got one this morning, due to be discharged in 2 weeks!

this is disgusting, they seem to have had a "purge" on trying to get money from us/frighten us. Can we do something collectively as well as individually? Can we email Martin and see if he can do something to embarrass the unprofessional and downright intimidating behaviour?

  • Sorry, need to know, does this go to City for selling the debt or Cabot for buying it or both?

    Thanks

I would say a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman would be in order.

I agree....isn`t there something in the DPA 1998 about maintaining current & accurate customer records?
  • So do we do a complaint jointly and one of us collects everyones details, or do we do it individually but refer to each other?
    :D
  • Loved this by bat out of hell!:D

Just had the same myself, BR and dischaged in 2007.

The legaslation of lawfull assignmants states it must be something in action, ie a live account, as the debt was written of at the end of your BR it is no longer in 'action' therefore can not be legaly assigned to anyone.

Ignore or tell them to stick the assignmant up there !!!!!......your choice ;)

PS Hello all, just a flying visit, pun intended, hope everyone is well, bye :-)
  • had the same letter and crap from cabot and are now going to send them letter from hell and tell them to stop wasting their stationairy.lol.
  • Thanks to everyone that posted replies.

Rather than telling these parasites to stick their letter where the sun don't shine I've thought of a much more satisfying response.

I'll reply to them saying that I am more than willing to supply them with the information they request. There will unfortunatley be an 'adminstration fee' to cover my time etc of £50 payable in advance.
  • Checked my credit file online last night with Equifax, guess what, Cabot have added the debt to my credit file in their name with a big red default next it, husband checked his file and he has one also. Ringing them this morning,
