What level of DLA care does he get? Are you caring for him for at least 35 hours per week? Are you earning £100 or less per week? (there are deductions that can be made)

  • You can claim carers allowance if you are earning less than £100 a week and if you are not a student or on any other benefits.
  • You can claim carers allowance if you are earning less than £100 a week and if you are not a student or on any other benefits.

AND the person who you care for(for 35 hours a week or more)receives middle or higher rate CARE DLA

My daughter gets carers allowance for 35 hours or more care for me - at £53.90 a week. It's the worst paid (but most deserving) benefit.

The 35 hours does not need to be pysical care. My partner whom gets Carer's Allowance is more emotional care, shopping and cooking.
  • this goverment and the last whant it all. 53.90 for 35 hours a wek minimum, that is 1.54 a hour, yet the minimum wage is something like 5.80. then if u get any benifit you are more than lightly get nothing. are they not braking the law or at the very lest they should be, like to see a mp get that, how the hell do people live if it is there only job. sorry to say it stinks. i can get a carer but i would not expect anyone to do it for nothing, thank goodness at least i can pay some people for there help.:o i feel for and respect carers a lot for what they do.
