There are loads of cheap options, go with something UK based (if that's where you are based) to increase Google ranking.
  • what sort of pricing should i be looking at
  • how many website you need to be hosted. single domain or multiple?
  • single to begin with
  • I use https://www.3ix.com . They are not uk based but are cheap 99cents a month - you can pay in uk£. There are others . Make sure you own the domain and it is not rented to you. Also make sure you have the ability to move the domain and website freely. Lots of people slate 3ix but for what i want it is great

  • I have looked at getting a domain from 123-reg which do a two year, unsure as to whether i am renting it from them or not, i want to buy a domain

I am a member of noomle.com and while it is very basic it is free and it works on a contribution basis, basically if you make money then throw them a bit :)

This is the kind of stuff you can do on it

Rob, you do not actually buy domains, no one does...what you do is have them register your details with the central registry that tells the internet it is your domain. All you can ever do is lease them really, but "own" is the preferred way of getting our heads around it :p

I have never used 123-reg, I prefer American registrars because they seem to have it together much more, British are still stuck in the stone ages even though it was invented here. Godaddy hit you will upsells constantly (but they do have the cheapest .info prices and have constant coupons which can be found here) and namecheap.com, while sparse are my favourite :)

(Better to use a 0% overseas transaction card for American registrars)
