We did Paris in a day this time last year, used the underground to get carnet of 10 tickets, saw Eiffel Tower,Notre Dame got lost near Sacre Coeur, very tired by then (could not work out the exit) had dinner near Garde du Nord, was good fun but in hindsight we should have used the hop on hop off buses

Have a look HERE for details and price of the open top bus tour. It's quoted as £25.50 from that site, it's 29 Euros in Paris.

A 1-3 zone Paris visite card is 9 Euros/day and can be used on buses, trains, trams and the Metro.

A zone 1 and 2 Carte Mobilis is a travelcard for unlimited travel, costs EUR6.10. Zones 1 to 3 cost 8.20. All metros count as zone 1, even if they leave the official zone. This is valid on all busses too.

Paris Visite is basically a Mobilis with another card giving a small % off certian attractions - it's not usually worth it in my opinion.

A carnet is a bunch of 10 regular, single journey tickets, costing EUR12. Note that on the bus, if you transfer to another bus, that's 2 tickets. These, and Mobilis tickets, can be bought at machines, accepting UK credit cards, as well as ticket booth windows.

As for senior discount, it appears that it is for local residents only, they receive a discount card to obtain the discount.

    Hope this helps!
