    it sounded like originally, based on the info they received from the hotel, that the impact on guests would be negligible...so no reason for them to allow a swap...but when guest complaints came in, they reacted and started allowing guests to move to alternate locations.
    Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    I am the first to complain about customer service but in this instance I think Virgin have done ok. you have got a decent hotel at no extra cost. I dont think they "owe" you anything else

    Sounds like you made the right choice; I have stayed in the Comfort Inn about 3 years ago and it was a shithole then.
