French Protesters

There has been massive disruption in France today.
The French people object to the retirement age being raised to 62
Meanwhile we sit around and let the Gov raise our retirement age to 68 or 70. In Effect it means we will no longer pay an "Old age State pension" It doesnt mean everyone will have to work untill they drop. The Better offs will still retire when they see fit. Having accrued plentifull savings and lucrative pension schemes.
They will be playing golf and walking the Coast to Coast route.
Whilst the masses toil on untill they snuff it.
The company I work for has over the last couple of years.
Stopped paying overtime rates for evenings and Sundays. No extra for Bank holidays {If we want one off it comes out of our holiday entitlement} The pension scheme is closed to new employees. They are trying to wind it up completely. We used to be in B U P A now only senior management are in the scheme. Only statutary sick pay.
No wage increase for 3 years. Why? because they can.
It seems to me the powers that be are turning back the clock on workers rights. Sending us back to the Victorian age.
All those hard won concessions, now surrendered without a fight.
The working Class in this Country are a rabble. We accept whatever they dish out to us without a fight. Lets have it right.
WE are not responsible for the state of the Countrys economy.
And the ones that are. Are still doing very nicely.
It makes my blood boil.
The most beautiful emotion we can experience is the mystical. It is the power of all true art and science.
He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead.

    Oh dear, comrade.

Keep spouting this pinko, leftie nonsense about capitalism serving only the capitalists and you may end up as that most dire of creatures:

A Business Secretary who knows that the cobblition will not survive its own, ideology-driven policies.

It makes my blood boil as well, but we are British and we have to swallow all the crap that our awful governments give us.
Never, in the field of human civilisation, have so many been misgoverned by so few.

The working class in this country are scum. Pure scum. Chavs and yobs, worth nothing at all in human terms. A minority do care and do want to fight to preserve their rights, but the majority are happy to go down the pub, get pi**ed and throw up all over the street. If they get involved in a fight, all the more fun. This is what the working class has become in Britain, and that's why the government knows it can get away with anything. As long as 'The Sun' approves, it must be right.

I'm fed up with democracy - I would rather have a benevolent dictatorship that would actually sort things out in this country once and for all and rule for the people, not against them. Tories, Lib Dems, Labour - all of these are scum that work on behalf of special interest groups, not the British people. I say get rid of the lot. We need radicalism, not soundbites and fancy words.

Good - at least then we'll have a change of government. It couldn't be any worse than this bunch of brain-dead morons.

    Might even be an improvement.
I read somewhere that a Country can be judged by how it treats its old people. Well we treat them pretty shabily now. And the intention is to treat them a whole lot worse.
Example. Truck driver comes out of work at 67 because eye sight and reactions not up to the job. Already had two heart attacks .
One at the wheel. But still deemed fit to work. So no sickness benefit. Six months JSA. then have to use up meagre savings to live. Manages to eke out an existance untill pension at 70.
But now totally knacked. Goes into care home. His house sold off to pay the fees. Dies 3 years later, pennilesss after working and contributing all his life.
Never did get to do that Coast to coast walk he dreamed of doing.
The future doesnt look good for Joe Bloggs......ie Me!

It's not only blue collar workers that are affected. White collar workers are now seeing their defined benefit/final salary pensions destroyed and replaced by virtually worthless money purchase pensions that depend entirely on the whims of the stockmarket.
Give it 20-25 years and we'll be seeing mass poverty among people aged 60+. They'll be forced to sell their houses to have enough to live on and live in tiny flats in old people homes. This is modern Britain.

It's rare to meet an out-and-out Nazi these days. A proper racist socialist.

Never in the field of debate on this board have so many odious generalisations been trotted out in a single paragraph.

With friends like you, I pity that caring 'minority.'

By the way, how did you count the working class, assign them to groups and discover these facts?

Great idea, I wonder how we pick the person for the job? Maybe we should just give you the job? I'm sure you would be well above any sort of self interest.

Please point to examples where dictatorships have been good for the population? Or benevolant dictators as you put it. I'm sorry, but there is a lot of truth in the old adage "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely".

If you have such a problem with the establishment, we live in a democracy, start your own party and do something about it. The Green party went from not a lot to having an MP in about 10 years. If your ideas really strike a cord, it won't even take you that long.

    predictable. all too predictable.

someone raises employment rights and they're immediately denounced as commies.

    so much for balanced debate.

So all right. You can see some value in re-building The Reich Chancellery and Fuhrerbunker.

But that's still no guarantee the trains will run on time.
