Gold is remaining at a great price for UK savers.
In spite of making new highs in $US per ounce, GBP is still holding up against $US, giving us here in the UK an extended period to buy at good prices.

After hitting 865GBP in mid year it fell back to 740GBP. Today it is still 5% down on that 865GBP high.
This article gives some insights in to why gold is still the safest place to invest.

Price dipped a bit more for now.
This article off Seeking Alpha raises a lot of questions, that a due dilligence examination of investing in gold needs to go through.
Study before buying.

As threads go, Digger, this isnt one of your best efforts is it?0

I've also been thinking of buying gold.. does this mean it might be a good time? If so, where does one buy those 1 ounce gold bars?0

Google "buy gold bullion"
Then wade through all sorts of interesting price adjustments, coins, different grades of gold."Gold is the money of kings; silver is the money of gentlemen; barter is the money of peasants; but debt is the money of slaves." - Norm Franz0 -

To stay clear of any CGT liabilities buy UK Sovereigns and Britannias. Try these sites for coins or bars.

Many thanks mate.. i'll take a look.
Out of pure interest you say you have used them all... is gold something you invest in? I'm new to gold and have around 10,000 to 'play' with.. I was wondering what would be a good start.. all accounts are maxed so no use saving it...0 -
...... is gold something you invest in?........
Yes it is.
We at Digger Mansions are big fans of gold. Not as speculators, but as a final safe port for our retirement cash.
Three parts physical and one part NSI ILSC. But would be happy to go all in with physical, especially if *currency debasement gets worse. (*Aka QE2)
For ten grand you will end up with a tube of sovereigns the size of a packet of Polo Mints. Easy to hide in the home, or place in a deed box in the bank, about fifty pound a year + about ten pound for each access. Insurance on top.
Don't forget gold is a long term buy and hold for future needs. Stick to funds that you won't need for foreseeable future.

Bullion, bars, ingots, all the same.
Coins or bars? down to choice, gold is gold.
If you have your S&S ISA allowance to use, you could always get gold exposure with Miners or Gold ETF's. Not my speciality, but if you ask on the Buzz Lightyear thread you will get advice, or check out the Seeking Alpha site.0
