RBS account

Phoned RBS last week to open an account with them, got the paperwork through last friday, sent it off yesterday with ID. Any 1 got any idea how long it will take to get my bank card and details through. I was hoping to change my bank details with my work soon, as i finish work week tomorrow for a month for paternity leave and 2 weeks holiday and want my wages paid into this account.
Thanks for advice
Craig.

  • Could be 2 or 3 weeks OR you could still get rejected.

Also, If you have asked for an account with a branch in England or Wales, it will be transferred to Santander in about a year's time as part of the ongoing process.

If my experience is anything to go by, the first thing you hear from them may be an email after two weeks to suggest you send your ID as the application will expire, even if you sent those already

It really took over three weeks, and to make it sweeter they have a department overseeing the applications (AVU - Application Verification Unit), and they can cancel an account even after you have all the account details, including the PIN to a not yet received debit card (for which you see the ending digits).

This should not happen though if you have no "nasties" hidden on one of your credit files.

You would be better off opening your account in branch and requesting a scottish sort code.

This will speed up the process of them writing to you requesting ID etc.

OP sent the requested ID two days ago, so the application should end up on the same stack of papers sooner than if they go to a branch tomorrow, I would think ;)

  • if you go in branch, you will have your sort code and acc number straightaway. just take your id and proof of address with you.
