That is entirely why you have a credit now. Your payments are even, your usage is not therefore at some point you may have a credit and at some point you may have a debit. It makes perfect sense.

    I've been Money Tipped!
In July I found I was almost £300 in credit with british Gas, so I called them and asked for it back. They said fine, but we'll put your DD up by a fair bit. They wouldn't budge.

    To**ers.

But how much is your entire annual bill?
  • I cannot believe people struggle to understand this. If you are in credit, and you leave the credit ther OF COURSE the DD payments can be lowered. If you remove the credit, and they had already been adjusted to use up the credit and cover the consumption OF COURSE they are going to want to increase them as the credit isn't there to cover the expected consumption. Its not a phone bill people!!!

I'm currently £230 in credit with British Gas. I have no intention of asking me for a refund, I'd much prefer to stay in credit. Instead they lowered my monthly DD from £35 to £15.

You could always put the extra money into a savings account. If the you use more gas/elec than expected in the winter months then you can use this money to pay for it. Else you will make a little bit of interest.
