How to close a bank account

Hello all,
I am in the middle of sorting some old bank accounts out.
What I would like to know is;
1) How can I close an ISA account? (Held with the Halifax - I will open a new one next year).
2) How can I close a current account (held with the Halifax)? The branch says I need to phone the central office, they say I need to go into the branch!
Any ideas?
Cheers :beer:

Current Account - Just go to the branch counter and withdraw the balance and ask to close the account or open a new current account and ask the bank you are moving to to transfer everything for you and close the account?
ISA - Presume you can close this in branch also, just transfer the money out into another account and ask to close it?0 -
Isa - if you have a book you must take this and the funds will be give to you. £1200 or less in cash - over by bankers draft
if Isa Direct (telephone and internet) then take your certificate in with extra ID
Current Account - the branch can reduce your balance to zero - then get you fill in a form which they send to business centre to do the final closing entries. You must take in your card and cheque book for them to stop and destroy. The branch can't do the final closing entries but they can give you all your money (except interest due, if any)
so yes you can get all your cash from branch
Most banks that do switchers transfers are not authorised to take cash from another bank kilty0
