moving home & gas/leccy supply

hi
wasnt sure where to put this to get the best response so have posted this in utillities board too

moving out of home for the first time to a rented flat and was just wondering should i be arranging for the gas, leccy etc to be changed to my name now or wait until the day i move in ?

i'm not sure which supplier is used at the moment, but the flat is empty right now so will it just be 'switched on' when i tell the supplier my details and set up a payment system ?
thanks

  • I'd call them as soon as you have a confirmed moving date. Whoever is in charge of the flat should be able to tell you the current suppliers.
  • Don't forget to take readings of gas electricity and water on exit from old and on entry to new. Keep them safe and inform the suppliers.

Ring on the day of move. Avoid confusion, and confusion runs rife when dealing with utilities. Just taken me 7months to switch gas supplier and get it all sorted!
