It appears that TopCashback is currently offering £100 cashback for new nPower customers on some tarifs. Is this really as good a deal as it looks ?

Can't post links yet - but if you go to TopCashback website it's easy to find

I would always follow MSE Martin's recommendation of using a comparison site first to ensure you get the best deal for your energy ... and then seek any cashback deal for that selected supplier, as cashback is not guaranteed (until it's in your bank account) and is only paid once.

Such recommendations may not apply if you are, what MSE Martin terms, a 'cash-back tart' .i.e. someone who regualrly switches purely to obtain the benefit of cash-back,

  • Npower usually come out top on comparison sites on account of their factoring in the £100 discount you receive if you stay with them for 12 months.

If you do decide to go with them its worth also checking out their boiler cover. Six months cashback for no call outs after 1 year.

I used comparison site and got my cashback and after 12 months got the £100 discount from Npower, all good. But Npower has now increased the surcharge by 300% !!!!!
How can that size increase be justified

My first post...hope it's in the right place

    What surcharge has quadrupled?

  • Eon energy reward plan gives £105 cashback, you pay their current standard dual fuel prices and also get an 8% dual fuel discount.

It's not the cheapest tariff though, any online tariff will beat these cashback deals if you are an average user or above.

low users may be better off on the cashback tariffs.
  • I have to appologise it looks like I went off "half cocked". The 300% increase in standing charge for their SOL 15 prices has been cancelled out by a reduction in their unit cost.
