Housing benefit

Hi there
I wondered if anyone could help me with some advice.
I am currently employed but I am also self employed and setting up a business but at least in the first year there will be considerable losses. Can I offset that against my employed income for the purposes of housing benefit, tax credits etc.
My OH is also self employed.
Thanks
Elaine

Any losses from S/E are offset against income from PAYE. You'll find that when you've sent off your self assessment form next April that you'll get a tax refund.0
