OMG Carcraft Are Disgraceful!!!

I'm not entirely sure if I've put this in the right place, but I'm going to rant on anyway. This is a bit of a long story, so bear with me!
On 4th February 2006 I paid £100 deposit on a Y plate Citroen Saxo from Carcraft. It took a couple of days to get all the finance in place, but on 6th February 2006 I drove away (after being missold an NAC warranty and two lots of PPI, although I didn't realise this until I got home).
I had to have two loans for the car, one from Black Horse and a top-up from All-In-One (now Creation).
The original credit agreements comprised the following;
Black Horse:
Car: £3,785.00
PPI: £823.80
Creation:
Car: £1,151.82
PPI & Warranty: £1,857.77

This was a over £7000 for a car that was supposed to be under £5000. As soon as I realised what I'd signed up for I called both Black Horse and Creation and cancelled the unwanted PPI and Warranty. I received an updated Credit Agreement from Creation and a confirmation letter from Black Horse.
On 2 April 2007 (14 months later) I settled the two outstanding amounts of £3219.13 for Black Horse and £938.90 for Creation.
So, to all intents and purposes, my dealings with Carfraft were over.
There were many misdeamenours from them along the way, but that's for another forum!

Imagine my surprise then today when I do my monthly check on my credit reports to find that Carcraft have put 2 accounts on my file, one for £248 and one for £1243, and have defaulted them for June July and August 2010, with no mention of these accounts previously! I have tried to speak to them today, and I am waiting for a call back from them. I have a horrible feeling that this isn't going to go away quietly.

Please help! Where do I stand? I have been throught all my paper work with a fine-toothed comb, and can't see anything realteing to these amounts at all. As far as I am concerned that accounts were settled. Where on earth have these defaults come from all this time after I first bought the car, and why have they come form Carcraft? I'm so cross!
LBM: 14.01.08 - Debt at 25.04.08: £7420.9
25.06.10: 3200.00 :T I'm over half way there!!! :j

I have no idea about the status of your credit files, but I really hope somebody reads this and takes it as a warning to stay away from Carcraft.

Carcraft embody everything that is wrong with the used car industry. From high-pressure sales tactics to ridiculous warranties and expensive finance, I would not advise my worst enemy to go there. There are plenty of better places to buy cars and very, very few are worse.

Went there with my wife once - she asked to drive a car and the salesman sighed and said only if she promised to buy a car...!!!!!

I visited them once - the sales tactics are awful! I got all the way through the process thinking I was getting a reasonably priced finance deal a £x per month. It was when I read the paper work that it said £x per week! That quadrupled the amount of the finance I thought i was signing up for.

When i told the salesman he had mis-lead me he started to get quite pushy so we quickly walked away. Glad I didn't make that mistake! When he looked at my car for trade in he said it was "death blue" which mean in the industry they won't be able to shift it. Never heard that one before lol!
I would never go near carcraft - and would recommend everyone to stay away.
  • Hi

If you had agreements with Black Horse and Creation I don't know why CarCraft have (or indeed have the authority) to apply defaults to your credit.

A couple things you may want to clarify are:

    (a) It's not normal for funders to split finance on one vehicle. I know Black Horse extremely well and I'm not at all convinced they would be aware they ever part-funded your vehicle.

    (b) Regardless of whether CarCraft can or should have registered defaults against you, they would've contacted you in writing when you first defaulted (or they felt you had defaulted). Have you received any letters?

On the face of it, CarCraft are very much in the wrong.

    Best of luck
