Change of titles/financial order?? Help!!

Hi people. I've not posted on here before but was recommended by a friend so I hope I'm doing it properly! I'm currently in the process of getting divorced
but running into a few complications with the marital home/mortgage. The house has been rented out since my husband and I seperated, with half the mortgage being paid by each of us and each receiving half the rent (there is a shortfall of £200 per month).
About 4 months ago I found out that although my ex has been collecting his half of the rent, he hasn't been paying his half of the mortgage for a while . Charming. I had many conversations with the mortgage company and have now sorted it out and have been paying it all myself since, but obviously this prompted me to get the situation resolved because if I'm paying it all, I dont want my ex profiting from it in the future. Because I cant get his name removed from the mortgage (I dont earn enough/cant get some one to come on with me) my solicitor advised me to get a financial order in place with my divorce. I believe that it might also be called a change of title.
My solicitor, who when I first started divorce proceedings seemed excellent, seems to have gone into hiding and, despite repeated attempts, I'm struggling to get any more information about this financial order, but presume it's getting sorted. Has anyone been through a similar experience? Does anyone know anything about these financial order thingys?
Hoping some one can offer me some advice and thanks in advance if you do!
