A&L account closure - closing withdrawal

At the beginning of August, I requested the closure of my current account in writing. I never received any communication nor a cheque for the closing balance of £1. So I assumed my request had not been acted upon. I just logged on and noticed that the account had been closed on 24th Aug and the balance had been withdrawn…

They seem to just send cheques out if you dont have another Santander account to send the balance to. I got 2 cheques one for the current account and one for the plusaver balance. Must be costing them a fortune sending out cheques for a few pence!!
