So they bumped up the charge to £50 now

I'm with HSBC, and they've upped the fee to £50.
Fair enough, the first one was my fault, but then I got stung again last month.
What's going on here? This is absolutely awful, they claim the charges aren't unfair, win in court, and then charge even more!
Is there any hope of getting it back?

What fee have they upped to £50?
I'm with HSBC and don't remember being advised recently of any increase in any charge."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
The bank charge for being overdrawn and whatever. It used to be £35 which is bad enough, now it's £50!0

I'm not aware of this. Their website is still displaying the terms I knew of

Basically £25 arrangemnt fee (for second and subsequent arrangements within 6 months) or £25 unpaid item fee (where the unpaid item was >£25)
Interest rate (usually 19.9%) applies to any overdrawn amount.
Fair fees policy applies.

I suggest you ask the bank again what the charge is actually for.
Edit: Do you perhaps have a Premier, Student, Passport or Amanah bank account in which cases other terms would apply?

It's a normal account, but maybe they've charged me because they let me keep taking out money, and it went over my limit, and then a day later, debited further.
I wish you could just request that if you have no money, they don't let you take any out. Effing ridiculous.
But are they allowed to double-charge you? I'll have to ring them0 -

...
That will probably be it.
Assuming you've already had your first 'free' arrangement in that 6 months, then when you went into unauthorised overdraft territory giving you a balance of say -£27.15, then the arrangement fee will only cover you for that (extra) overdraft of £27.15.
If you then borrow yet more money by going even deeper into an unauthorised overdraft, another arrangement fee would apply as they have to re-assess the amount they are prepared to lend again.
You only get charged the arrangement fee if the bank actually lend you the money."Now to trolling as a concept. .... But you get one free every six months? I don't think I got any.
I was in London for 10 days, and I wasn't really paying attention...0 -

HSBC Fair Fees policy allows for 1 'free' arrangement in the previous 6 months. (See the link in my earlier post)
That arrangement can be either be for an authorised or unauthorised overdraft.
If you don't think you've ever had an overdraft agreed in the last 6 months, contact the bank; it could be they failed to spot this and charged you unfairly."Now to trolling as a concept. ....
