Santander Overdraft Appeal

Overdraft due to be renewed on 1st October no communication from them, spoke to call centre in sheffield who managed to find out that the OD will drop to 1400 from 3350. I was miffed that I had not received a letter they went off and came back and said one had been sent.

I am not in my overdraft but what if I was.

They said that I could go to the bank and appeal, as my account was run well etc. They said it would take 48HRS

Has anyone appealed an overdraft and how did the branch let them know was it by letter or did you njust see it on the account.

No disrespect but, if you don't use or even think you'll use 3,350 I seriously wouldn't question & or appeal it's dropped to 1,400.
It's in the banks (& yours) best interest to drop the amount for a multitude of different reasons :)

I've no experience of Santander but, generally your informed by letter either online or by surface mail :)

Yes but the OP's pride has taken a knock.
  • I did use the overdraft for 9 months but brought it back in credit, I always had the funds to do so, but what about the people who did not. Dont get me wrong I don't have much in savings, but manage, went in to bank today and if you want to appeal I have to prove a case with the customer service advisor, who will then send to the under writter.

But what you trying to prove? You want an overdraft amount you don't use?

Overdrafts are re-payable on demand it's the terms & conditions of the person taking it.
If the letter didn't arrive then by all means appeal banks will look at individual circumstances but, as this is all if, but & maybe it doesn't really hold much weight does it :)

  • I am now in process of moving from Santander for their poor service. I also moved from HSBC because they sent me a new chip and pin card and cancelled my old one without telling me (I didn't get the card and had a weekend without cash). I moved from Lloyds TSB for an introductory rate at a competitor.

In all cases I've never been arrested, had to visit my MP or pay a fine. If you don't like something about your bank or you just feel like it ... move.
Santander are awful - mission in life is to warn people since 17-Sep-10, 18-Sep-10 realised one of thousands.
